Town Bias?
During the recent Town Board Meeting on March 11, 2024, the Clerk/Treasurer of the Town of East Troy felt it necessary to add two comments to the end of her report to the board after declaring she needed to counteract “the lies” being posted. Here is exactly what she said:
Where candidates stand.
Many folks in our township have containers for storage on their property. A new ordinance has been proposed to eliminate shipping containers from your personal property. Supervisor Wucherer has already stated that he would vote YES to this new ordinance and has boldly shared his stance on the subject, that long gone are the days when you can do what you want on your property. So where do candidates Jahner and Leondard stand on this issue?
Rules for thee… but not the LBYC?
Should The Lake Beulah Yacht Club (LBYC) be Granted Approval to Extend Their Operating Hours to 12 a.m.?
We’ve Received notice from the Town regarding the 4/3/2024 Planning Commission meeting! Curiously, we noticed the Lake Beulah Yacht Club (LBYC) has a Conditional Use Amendment request to extend their current operational hours by 2 hours. Today their operational hours are 6 am to 10 pm and they would like to extend them to 12 am.
As we recall, Supervisor Wucherer provided many points of concern when addressing the Conditional Use requested by Cash Bar Enterprises at the July 19, 2023 meeting.
VOTE YES!
Referendum Questions - Vote YES!
Explanation as to why these constitutional changes are on the ballot.
Governor Evers twice vetoed bills that had been put before him on these issues, so, the only way around this Governor was to place these referendums on the ballot. Many people have worked very hard to stop the influence of outside billionaires from taking control of our elections. Wisconsin statutes clearly outline that “elected officials” are to run our elections, period, end of story. So your “YES” vote on these two referendums is extremely important. They appear on the backside of the ballot, so make sure you don’t miss them.
HOW YOUR VOTE GETS COUNTED
MY VOTER INFO
In Wisconsin, all ballots are counted on Election Day. Election officials track who voted on Election Day through a poll book. The poll book is a list of all registered voters assigned to that polling place. Every voter is verified at the poll book check-in table by publicly stating their name and address and providing a valid Wisconsin photo ID. Upon proper validation, the voter will sign the poll book and be issued a ballot. Your vote is private, so no identifying information is applied to the ballot. Voters then mark the ballot and place the ballot in the tabulator where it is counted towards the election results.
Letter to the Editor: A DIVIDED TOWN BOARD
We the Town People received correspondence, through our email, from a Town of East Troy resident regarding his recent LTE in the East Troy Times published 3/15/2024.
We welcome your commentary, truthful information for consideration, suggesting topics to report on or simply communicating your support.

Make your absentee ballot count!
ABSENTEE BALLOTS ARE REJECTED FOR THE FOLLOWING REASONS
The Absentee ENVELOPE was NOT sealed.
The voter did NOT sign the certificate envelope on the line marked “Voter Signature.”
The witness did NOT sign the envelope on the line marked “Witness Signature.” It is okay if your witness is your spouse or significant other.
The voter did NOT print their name on the absentee envelope.
The witness did NOT print their name on the line marked “Witness Printed Name.”
The witness did NOT write their address on the line marked “Witness Address” The printed address should include house number, street name, and city.
The ballot was NOT delivered to your polling location by 8:00 pm on Election Day.
The voter was NOT registered to vote at the CURRENT address. If you have moved, register to vote at your new address before requesting an absentee ballot. Writing a new address on your absentee label/envelope does not update your voter registration.
The voter died before Election Day.
Bill Wucherer Flyer
We received Bill Wucherer’s flyer, and we have some comments and thoughts on what he’s said.

A piece of the Pi.
This Pi Day, we have made a pie chart of the Town Board and would like to discuss their voting patterns on issues revolving around government transparency. You may find it as disturbing as we do.
Burned Down, a lot of trouble
To date, this property since the fire has remained vacant. In July 2023 a local resident and developer showed interest in using the property for a May through October seasonal outdoor food, drink, and music venue promoting a ‘friends and family’ gathering space during the summer… But Wucherer refused to allow a conditional use permit to pass.
A Thought-Provoking Discussion of Career Bureaucrats in Government
…In an astonishing reversal of this tradition, governmental protections of private property have slowly been eroded – and replaced by regulations supporting governments’ new function of ensuring an “equality of outcomes”. This has been the case at the Federal and State levels of government where we the people are slowly losing our voices to the “elite” that know better. We definitely cannot accept this at our local government level.
This phenomenon is evident with the East Troy Town Board where the majority were pushing a recent ordinance that clearly states in its purpose, “that the days of doing whatever you please with YOUR property are long gone.” People subscribing to this philosophy truly believe, that OUR property is not ours to control and THEY need to control what we can do with it because THEY know better!
Is the TOET even following its ordinances?
In light of the recent post issued by the Town of East Troy regarding sign placement and the Town's actions should they find a sign in violation, it appears they haven’t read their own ordinances. Unless we are reading these ordinances incorrectly, the Town of East Troy should be providing a written notification to the adjacent property owner and providing 15 days to remove or rectify the complaint. Contrary to the ordinance, their post states the sign will be removed immediately and put behind the DPW garage by the salt shed.
New Police Garage in 2024
Wait a minute! The approved amount went from $200,000 to $500,000, which is an increase of 150% within seven (7) months. How could the original estimate be so far off? Looks like they pulled a bait and switch. We strongly believe that the $500,000 approved amount does not include furnishing to make the new space usable.
Town Meeting Live Streams, a history
Video streaming was made possible by citizen electors who mandated improved transparency and communication from the Town Board at the 2020 Annual Town Meeting of Electors in July 2020.
Removal & Disposal of Campaign Yard Signs
Did you know that Town of East Troy Supervisor Candidate Joe Jahner’s campaign yard signs were placed in yards, with residents’ approval, but are being removed from their original placement locations?
Absentee Ballot Chain of Custody
Chain of custody is essential to transparent and secure elections. There have been eyewitness accounts of a Town employee picking up the Town’s mail from the PO Box on their way home, which “We the Town People” were unable to independently verify. If true, this mail is now potentially temporarily located at a private residence or in a vehicle overnight or over the weekend which potentially breaks the Chain of Custody for those ballets. What if the house or car burns down while the mail is there?
