New Police Garage in 2024

Wait a minute! The approved amount went from $200,000 to $500,000, that is an increase of 150% within seven (7) months. How could the original estimate be so far off? Looks like they pulled a bait and switch. We strongly believe that the $500,000 approved amount does not include furnishing to make the new space usable.

April 2022

At the Town’s 2022 Annual meeting, preliminary sketches/estimates indicated that the new police garage could be done for $182,000. There was open discussion. Motion by resident C. Montez, Wilmers Point Lane, seconded by resident J. Seeger, Beulah Heights Road, authorizing the Town Board to construct a Police Garage for an amount not to exceed $200,000. We the Town People were told that extensive discussion took place with electors expressing that this building could not be erected for $200,000! A paper ballot vote was then taken with 57 Yes votes, and 17 No votes. Motion passed. See Meeting Minutes https://townofeasttroy.com/.../April-19-2022-Annual...

November 2022

At the Town’s 2022 Special Meeting of the Electors, the Chairman reviewed points of information regarding the need for the Town Police Garage building and following that, a motion by P. Hudec (unknown address), seconded by B. NOTE: The $500,000 budget amount was proposed by the Chairman based upon a five-page budgetary quote from Kehoe-Henry (See Packet https://townofeasttroy.com/.../09/September-2022-Packet.pdf pages 39-43 for the budgetary quote used to justify a $300,000 increase from original budget). Following the discussion, a paper ballot vote was taken with 41 Yes votes and 10 No votes. Motion passed. See Meeting Minutes https://townofeasttroy.com/.../1122-November-14-2021...
